A gay old time

June 1, 2006 at 12:20 am (Uncategorized)

cobain_kurt_2.jpgI believe it was the late, great, occasionally coherent Kurk Cobain who groaned the line "everyone is gay" as he sung of the general malais which had become his life. Kurk was one profound sonofabitch and very perceptive, as well. Everyone is gay these days. Gay has become as trendy as lattes and satellite radio.

Me, I'm still adjusting to the idea that dashingly handsome Rock Hudson preferred to get his loving from other men rather than the throngs of winsom women who adored him. And Mike Brady? How the hell did that happen?

We all know that any sort of discussion about homosexuality and its weird prevalence these days needs to be appended with the line: "Not that there's anything wrong with that." For surely, a free spirited bunch like ourselves does not wish to cast any sort of aspersion upon any one group of people, no matter how foreign their lifestyle seems to us.

But even the most staunch gay supporter should admit that the emerging homosexual lifestyle takes some getting used to. For instance, when I was a boy, you could trust that a superhero was a powerful man or women who upheld the American way of life and only occasionally paused for fornication. And then, only with a superhero of the opposite sex. Those days are over. Although, if we really get honest with ourselves, didn't we always suspect Robin might be just a little bit different?

Me, I wish Batwoman the best of luck finding herself a life partner. I will refrain from making sophomoric jokes about lesbians with superpowers because I am a tolerant adult. But mostly, I can't think of one at the moment.

batwoman3.jpgYears after she first emerged from the Batcave, Batwoman is coming out of the closet. DC Comics is resurrecting the classic comic book character as a lesbian, unveiling the new Batwoman in July as part of an ongoing weekly series that launched this year. The 5-foot-10 superhero comes with flowing red hair, knee-high red boots with spiked heels, and a form-fitting black outfit.
The outing of Batwoman created a furor of opinions on Web sites devoted to DC Comics. Opinions ranged from outrage to approval. Others took a more tongue-in-cheeck approach to the announcement.
"Wouldn't ugly people as heroes be more groundbreaking?" asked one poster. "You know, 200-pound woman, man with horseshoe hair loss pattern, people with cold sores, etc.?"

I think I’ll pass on this one.. I suspect my opinion would not be appreciated, being as I’m not quite so open minded and tolerant as some of the others here..

  2. Linda said,

I can’t believe it, how scary is this: I was just reading the Batwoman story in the SJ and I thought, Mark will have written about that today. And I put the paper down and came to the computer, and … I was right. I’m feeling a little freaked out. Do I need a vacation? a long one in a very quiet place? Please, that’s rhetorical, I don’t want any advice, much as I love you all.

Not to mention — Batwoman gay? that’s freaky in its own way.

  3. Mainetarr said,

WTF? This is bullshit. Horseshit. Batshit, even. I don’t have anything against gay people, but I am sick of being forced to listen to homo this and homo that. Who gives a bat’s ass? Not me, if they are gay, fine, so be it. Go be gay. But why should I have to hear about it constantly? And why should homosexuality be taught to children so young? Why does the media, the public education system and the government find it so necessary to teach 5 year olds about “being gay”? Do they need to glamorize it like they glamorized smoking in the age of the Marlboro Man? Look when it got everyone then? Fuggin lung cancer. I read a story a while ago about some tv show where a rabbit (I think) goes from home to home and kids watching it learn all different things from the places the rabbit visits. They did a show where there were two mommy’s or two daddy’s, I forget which. Tell me, why do little children need to see this? If they are living in a household where there are gay parents, don’t you think the parents have already explained it to them? I grew up without homosexuality education, and I turned out just fine. So did everyone else I grew up with, hell, one of my close friends is gay. He is one of the funniest guys I know. I love the guy. People should be looked at for their personality, morality, sense of humor, etc…not for who they are sleeping with. DC Comics says they are bringing Batwoman out of the closet because they feel they need to be “more diverse”. Smells like Batshit to me.

It’s the militant queers who bother me. And they are HOMOSEXUALS, not gays. I agree with what MT said about how people should be judged, and the lifestyles of others, whether it’s biological or psychological, should not be forced onto others.

What audience is this character aimed at, anyways? The young girls or the boys looking for spank material? DC comics goes soft porn?

This is just asinine. It’s trying to mainstream homosexuality. what’s next, heroin and suicide pacts? WTF, do we not have any shame anymore as a nation?

This is really about money. Most HOMOSEXUALS don’t have children, so there is a ton of disposable income available to these people. And it’s about votes and getting reelected in NOvember.

I personally don’t care if two people are of the same or diffeerent sex and want to spend the rest of their lives together. How many HOMOSEXUALS are in stable relationships and don’t meet the perceived norm of flaming fags out spreading their chromosones all over the place?

I don’t understand why the divorce lawyers of America are not standing up and arguing for HOMOSEXUAL marriage. I mean, you have HOMOS getting married, you’d have HOMOS getting divorced, right? Simple economics. They’d be fighting over who gets the punt puppy and anal penetrator instead of trying to figure out custody and visitation on the kids.

  6. jarheaddoc said,

Okay, I just read the blurb on MSN and the person who did the interview is claiming they didn’t know it wold create this much controversy to have a lesbian character. What a bunch of shit: this is just advertising and the main stream liberal media buying into the HOMOSEXUAL agenda.

  7. AO said,

Huh. I always thought CatWoman was the lesbian. Maybe they’ll have the two of them hook up.

  8. Martha said,

WOW… although I’d go even a little farther, I guess I’m not quite so out of step as I thought I’d be.

  9. Ray said,

Does she have a friend? Can I watch? Trust me, I won’t take long if you let me join in.

“I’m not really that type of girl, it’s just the way I’m drawn.”

  10. jarheaddoc said,

Martha, fire away: there is no ‘suggest removal’ function in this blog

  11. Martha said,

Ok, JH.. you asked for it.. here goes… God calls it an abomination.. I’m NOT goiing to disagree with Him.

  13. jarheaddoc said,

Succinct, martha. Good job! And there is no sarcasm whatsoever intended in this reply

  14. K2 said,

Why can’t gayness be talked about, though?

I look at all the people that I feel have wronged me over the years, and you know what? They were all white heterosexuals. Not gays. (Or illegal immigrants.)

I really believe that most people fear those who are different from them. If you can’t talk about homosexuality, or read about gay characters, then I’d say that’s homophobia, plain and simple. Gay people shouldn’t have to hide from society.

I have no problem with Batwoman being a lesbian. Other than she won’t be interested in me. Damn, ’cause she has a huge rack.

  15. Martha said,

They don’t have to hide, but neither do I have to stand for having it crammed down my throat. They are determined to have accepted as normal something that goes way beyond abnormal. They don’t want “equal” rights, they want special privileges. I for one will always stand in opposition to it. Call me homophobic if you chose. I don’t fear them, but I’m not going to endorce their lifestyle.

  16. K2 said,

Martha, He also says that if your neighbor works on the Sabbath, you must kill him. (Leviticus) He also says that if you love your father or mother more than Him, than you are not worthy of Him. (Matthew) And He says to His own mother Mary, ‘Woman, what have I to do with thee?’ (John)

He says a lot of things that are total crap. You saying that gays are blasphemous is simply ignorant and hateful. But maybe ‘knowing’ that people are going to burn in hell gives you some satisfaction.

And jd, I guess you veiw gays as favorably as the ‘Japs’ from your post yesterday.

  17. K2 said,

‘Crammed down my throat.’ Too funny.

  18. jarheaddoc said,

K2, I can see many sides of this argument, and you make some very valid points. What kills me is the need for the HOMOSEXUALS to feel they are due special protection and laws written solely to benefit them when the laws that cover the general public already cover them. I would like to have some sort of special protection because I am becoming a minority, too: I am a middle class worker trying to raise a family on a paycheck that keeps shrinking so that the welfares and special interests can be ‘protected’ through my taxes.

Activism is a good thing, extremism is not.

  19. Martha said,

K2.. call it what you like.. I’d far rather be in agreement with Him than you anyday of the week. You have no power or authority over me, He does.

  20. K2 said,

Martha, like I want any ‘authority’ over your close-minded, brainwashed self? P-l-e-a-s-e.

And I noticed how you can’t refute the scripture I referenced. Yes, it is inconvenient, isn’t it?

  21. jarheaddoc said,

K2, you’re taking that post out of context. It was meant as an example of finding a way to connect with someone I had to deal with on a regular basis, not as Jap bashing.

I’ll admit to a certain amount of homophobia, but I’m not into hurting them either physically or economically.

  22. K2 said,

jd, they are not asking for ‘special’ rights. Just equal rights, like not being evicted or fired ’cause they’re gay.

But I love how you’re playing the victim card here. Misery is relative, I guess.

  23. Linda said,

I like to think of this as a place where I could express an opinion that you don’t share, and not have to duck for cover. Maybe that’s not what you want from this blog K2, but I’m just saying, that’s what I’d like to think.

But then I’ve always been way too averse to conflict, so I’d have been as hesitant as Martha and maybe even more so. She’s given her opinion, you’ve given yours, can’t you agree to differ or make your points without such heat? But then that’s just my opinion. **ducking for cover now.**

  24. jarheaddoc said,

No, they are asking for special rights, and what makes them so damn different from anyone else? The disclaimer at the bottom of everything you sign today says that discrimination is wrong, regardless of who the person is or who sleeps with whom.

  25. jarheaddoc said,

Maybe K2 is trying to take the place of gil in the absence of ‘the little mexican’. I guess it’s okay to bash one group and not another and claim to be tolerant. I’m getting the feeling that K2 feels it’s wrong to steal my job so I can support my family but it’s okay to steal my date for Saturday night.

  26. Linda said,

You have a date for Saturday night? I hope it’s with your wife!

  27. Martha said,

K2 there are lots of scriptures that you could quote out of context to prove your point. No, its not inconvenient. I don’t have to explain it to you. You’d reject any explanation I, or anyone else gave you. Besides, if I could explain God, He wouldn’t be God. You call me brainwashed and narrow minded because I adhere to my beliefs.

If you actually believe the homosexual agenda is just for “equal” rights, you are either extremely naive or deluded.. Maybe you’ve smoking or inbibing a little too much. I may be narrow minded, but I’m not addled.. not yet anyway.. and I intend to keep it that way.

  28. K2 said,

Cripes, Linda, why are my views more threatening than anyone else’s in here? I’m simply stating my opinions — which are in stark contrast to most of yours — and calling a spade a spade.

I just think there are REAL problems in this world, and gay people aren’t one of them.

And I find it disturbing that you have no problem with Martha’s ‘God condemns gays,’ but have a problem with my posts.

    So, fuck it.

  29. K2 said,

No, jd, it was ‘Mexican bastard.’ Gil knows I’m kidding, as should you. He and I have a quasi-friendship that’s developed from blogging together for over a year. Talk about taking shit out of context.

  30. Linda said,

K2, I totally agree with you and totally disagree with Martha on this. I’m not objecting to your views.

  31. Linda said,

K2, I totally agree with you and totally disagree with Martha on this. I’m not objecting to your views. I just feel uncomfortable with such a heated environment here. As I said, I’m just expressing my opinion on how I like to see people respond to other people on this blog. Suit yourself, of course, and I mean that with no sarcasm.

  32. K2 said,

Well, Linda, it’s a hot topic, which Mark undoubtedly knows. Some spice is nice. It’s not like Martha called me a ‘cocksucker.’ Okay, so I tried it. Once. Well, it was six dicks. No, wait. 20. I dunno, I was drunk. Definitely no more than 50. That night. Oh, total? Under a thousand, I swear. . . .

  33. Linda said,

I can’t explaiin why (don’t want to know) but that doesn’t bother me at all but when you called Martha names it made me nuts. You were probably kidding, but I couldn’t see that. Don’t know if she could.

Anyhow this isn’t getting our version upgrade done — I gotta go.

  34. Martha said,

Linda, no he wasn’t kidding.. I’ll guarantee it.

  35. K2 said,

No, I wasn’t kidding about my ‘name-calling’ of Martha (I was kidding about sucking cock, however), and neither was she when she declared gays are an abomination. What’s worse, Linda? My rather innocous ‘name-calling’ or Martha’s negative prejudgement, in (her) god’s eyes, of an entire group consisting of millions of people? Come on now.

It’s a two-way street, this thing called argument. If you want a nice, kind gentle (read: boring) blog all day long, I’m sure there’s room for you in the Q Factor over at the Sun Journal. Last I saw, there were zero posts — in a week.

  36. Martha said,

K2 I didn’t make the declaration, God did. If you have a problem with it, your problem is with Him not me. Besides.. you always have the prerogative of disproving my statement. The only problem is, in order to disprove me, you’d have to disprove me from scripture, and that you can’t do, so you call me names instead.

  37. Martha said,

This is exactly why I initially said I would refrain from comment on this topic. I knew what kind of response it would get. I was correct, so will withdraw from the discussion.

  38. AO said,

I can’t imagine any “God” dispproving of gays. People are born gay. That’s my opinion. And, if God created all of us then, some of his creations are gay. I hardly think “HE” would disapprove of them. After all, “HE” created all.

There’s also a reason why this blog is called “The Screaming Room”.

  39. K2 said,

Gee, Martha, you got me. If I can’t prove you wrong with scripture, well, I have no argument whatsoever. Thank goodness for your, I mean His, wisdom. He’s good like that.

    And now I pray:

Dear Lord, please proect me from your followers.

  40. K2 said,

  41. K2 said,

Satan made me misspell ‘protect.’ Bastard.

  42. LaFlamme said,

Okay, I’ll weigh in. I agree wholeheartedly with the person who pointed that Batwoman has a huge rack. Of this there is empiracle proof.

  43. jarheaddoc said,

K2, now that I am back, read this with no contextual twists: I am not against HOMOSEXUALS, I am against MILITANT ACTIVISTS. I am against people who want to teach my children that the way they think is right and the way I choose to raise them is wrong.

I applaud the airing of your views, K2. I commend Martha for the courage of her convictions. I am proud to say that I served in the military to protect the rights of both of you. I am willing to defend to my death the right of both of you to express those views. Can you say the same?

  44. K2 said,

I don’t expect people to agree with my views, jd; but I will not, under any circumstance, respect people you think gays are an abomination in the eyes of the lord, 1st Amendment or not.

I never questioned your military service, either. I questioned the use of ‘Japs’ in a negative context. Sure, I understand that back in the day, that was the term. But last I checked, it’s 2006, and the war was over some 61 years ago.

And how many gays are saying raising striaght kids is wrong? Not many. They’re simply saying, ‘We’re here, we’re queer, get used to it.’

Yes, Mark, them are some bodacious ta-tas. She’s going to make some woman very, very happy. I wonder how they look when she’s supended upside down, assuming batpeople do that sort of thing. I don’t know, I’m still wondering how Wonder Woman finds her invisible jet. Good ol’ Wonder Woman — you know she likes a healthy meat pop now and then.

  45. jarheaddoc said,

You never answered the last question, K2: are you willing to die for your convictions?

  46. Richie said,

Wellll, I see rampant political correctness is surging into here like the tide coming in.
Well; I’m not politically correct & I don’t give two shits. For example: We fought Japs, or Nips, during WW-II; along with Krauts in the other theatre of war. Today, we’re fighting wrap-heads. So what.

“Oh Oh ! Thats so rude & mean sprited !” “Richie is a bigot !” Waaaaaa !
All the PC types can go fuck off. Bite me ! Lecht mein arsch !
Got a problem with that ? Call: 1-800-eat-shit.

Batwoman prefers to eat at the Y; she likes that boxed lunch ? Yup. There IS a gay agenda; some of it is direct and to the point, but some of it comes from those who co-opt into it to take advantage of it for their own purposes. They may not be part of the direct Gay lobby, but they subtly join into it through crap like gay comic characters. The controversy merely enhances their sales; but the controversy also serves to bring awareness to the issue and to advance the end goal: special rights for “gays”.
(Sad how the vocabulary has lost a nice word to something so filthy.)

Homosexuals (Jarhead is right, I should use the correct term) do want special rights not accorded to others in our society. They want acceptance of their perverted sexual practises as being “normal”. They want to be able to recruit through adoption. The want “normalization” of their behaviour. One of their favourite arguments is to “… try it, I might like it.”. No, I don’t have to eat a turd sandwich to know I don’t like shit.

Now, it’s easier to be quiet and just “go along”; don’t make waves, & everyone will like you. Fuck that. Homosexuality is a perversion. It is not a normal condition. You can argue all kinds of tendentious arguments about gay genes, being born that way, etc etc etc. It’s a load of horse shit. A very LARGE load of horse shit.

All that having been said; what two (or more) people do in the privacy of their house is their business. As long as what they’re doing doesn’t alarm the horses or scare the children; hey, munch that carpet or suck that cock. Knock yourselves out. It’s still worng; but as long as you don’t intrude on me or my kids or my animals; why then, fine. (Do NOT let me catch you in the barn doing things to my sheep. That sort of thing damages the wool.)

Now we have perversion being foisted onto us (again) in the guise of entertainment.
Notice, it’s not the artwork or storyline or continuity with the series or any of these things being touted; instead it’s abnormally enlarged mammary glands and perverse sexual practises being highlighted. If thats all they got, it ain’t gonna last long. If I want titty porn; I can find it on the Interwed; and a lot bigger and a lot better too.

Foolishness. BTW; Martha is right. She merely expressed an opinion as to what serves as a guide in her life. I notice K2 got real upset about that. Liberals are always upset when people espouse moral guidelines to live by. Didn’t see Martha telling us we had to be like her, or anything like that at all. But I think I would tend to trust her considerably more than someone who esposed the ACLU as a moral guideline.

  47. Richie said,

BTW Jarhead; Marines are #1 in my book. I’ll fetch my rifle and stand with you, if you’ll have me.

  48. jarheaddoc said,

Ooh Rah Devil Dog! Ah, the mating call of barely pubescent marines who wants to protect the rights of others, whether he agrees with them or not, because that’s what makes this country free. Fuck PC! Fuck PC! Fuck PC! And if you didn’t catch it the first three times, fuck PC!

  49. K2 said,

Richie, thanks for making my case for me. Ignorance is bliss.

jd, you’re hypothetical question may interest you, but it doesn’ t interest me. Unless it’s a veiled threat or something.

  50. K2 said,

I didn’t know that having a conscience, compassion and sympathy was PC.

  51. jarheaddoc said,

I am not into veiled threats by any stretch, K2. I am firmly of the beleif that if you believe strongly in something, you should be willing to die for it, not just spout platitudes and call it a conscience or compassion or sympathy. You’ve ripped Martha up one side and down the other today for her views and taken the very hypocirtical view that you are right and she is wrong. I see this a huge difference in the entire conversation, K2: Martha is willing to sacrifice herself for her beleifs and you’re not, that’s all.

  52. K2 said,

From Mark’s own text: “For surely, a free spirited bunch like ourselves does not wish to cast any sort of aspersion upon any one group of people, no matter how foreign their lifestyle seems to us.”

Although, I think he used ‘aspersion’ because of it’s phonetic ‘ass.’ He’s so subliminal.

  53. K2 said,

jd, your ‘logic’ is more twisted than a Twizzler.

  54. jarheaddoc said,

    Now you’re praying? Hypocrite!

  55. K2 said,

Wow. I do believe you’ve snapped, jd.

  56. jarheaddoc said,

What’s twisted here is your vision, K2. I am blind as a bat without my glasses, but it’s very easy for me to see that you preach tolerance with one side of your face and derision from the other. It was her OPINION, you don’t have to agree with a damn thing she said, you just have to respect it.

  57. jarheaddoc said,

I have not snapped, by any stretch. I just think it’s a hoot to find you scratching for any available source to justify your arguments and you get into a slippery slope situation because of it.

  58. Bulldog said,

AMEN AO!! I for one agree that MOST gays are born that way. I know of quite a few of them that just have no “normal” attraction to the opposite sex. I feel it’s a fucked up gene when they were conceived. Just like the people who are born blind, deaf, with downs syndrome, etc– we accept those people as being impaired and being accepted by God, even with their faults.

So, tell me Martha, why can’t the church accept gays as being impaired? Why, because they are too narrow minded to believe the research that has been done to prove that MOST gays are born that way. It’s out of the norm. It can’t be true. HOW could God make someone be born gay? Well, I ask, how could God make someone be born with a cleft lip or no ear or etc, etc, etc…….

  59. Richie said,

Having a conscience is most assuredly NOT PC. A conscience would help serve as a moral compass in guiding you to identify right from wrong; good from bad; usw.
You can’t have a conscience and be a liberal; or PC type. It just doesn’t work that way.

PC types espouse compassion and sympathy, but only to the extent that it does not personally discommode their precious little lives or beliefs. A liberal PC type will give a hungry man a fish; and make him beg and be thankful for it. A conservative will teach that same hungry man how to catch his own fish; and to be beholden to no one.

K2 won’t defend your rights, Jarhead. He wants to take them away from you & legislate how you should live and how you should act. Freedom doesn’t sit well with liberals; since only they know what is “good and right”; and by all they hold sacred they’re going to MAKE you conform to those ideas !

I’ve got about 10.000 rds of .223; & a couple thousand .308; I think we can hold ’em off for a short while before we need resupply.

  60. K2 said,

Yeah, you sure got me, jd. Praise Martha’s utter intolerance for millions of people, yet go after me for not tolerating her intolerance. Perfect.

I guess any racist or bigoted view should be applauded as free speech that you’re willing to die for. I’m not for censorship, but I will argue against prejudice, whether you like it or not.

  61. K2 said,

Richie, now I’m against freedom? I can see this is an utter waste of my time.

  62. jarheaddoc said,

And that’s your right, which is the point I’ve been trying to get across to you!

  63. Richie said,

    Jarhead = 1
    K2 = 0

    Game, Set and Match.

  64. AO said,

K2 is giving his opinion. His opinion is that being prejudice against a person because he’s gay is just wrong. I agree with him 100%. And, along with Bulldog (Hey, you!), God created us all differently. My daughter has some learning disabilities. God made her that way. He gave her to me to take care of. And, I thank him everyday for that blessing. If I ever hear of anybody treating her with any type of discrimination because of her disability, I’m on them like a fly on shit! What I want to know is this, Martha, if you would have had a child that was gay, what would you have done? Would you have turned them out? I don’t think so. What I was brought up to believe is this: We are ALL God’s children and, he loves us all. I was also taught that I’m no better than the next person. We are all equal in God’s eyes.

I’m not picking a fight, I’m just stating my beliefs. Thanks, I feel better.

  65. jarheaddoc said,

And I can see that point of view, too, AO. I have always felt that both parties in an argument should be able to see the point of view of the other party, whether said point is agreed to or not.

Religion is about tolerance, isn’t it?

  66. AO said,

Yes, JH, religion is supposed to be about tolerance. So, why is it that cetain religions are so intolerant of homosexuals? Why? I find that intolerant.

  67. K2 said,

I respect AO’s religion, because she ins’t using it negatively to prejudge people.

And I respect her taste in the Blues.

    But a Sox fan? Unforgivable.

  68. jarheaddoc said,

AO, I can’t answer that question to your satisfaction. I can’t answer it to my satisfaction, either. My own personal opinion, as I said earlier, is that a person needs to be judged by his or her actions, not who is being slept with. I think that the few, the ones promoting what I feel to be an agenda, are ruining it for the many.

  69. "The Weasel" said,

For what it’s worth, I LUUUUUVVVVVV LESBIANS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

  70. AO said,

K2, I have no set religion. But, I’m a firm beliver in God. I also believe in miracles and, that’s one of the reasons I love the Sox’s my DB. I also respect your taste in the blues.

Weasel, You love lesbians. Ha. That was a no brainer! ūüėČ I think that most men do.

  71. 'ol dawg said,

Yeah, everybody’s got an opinion. That’s wonderful. Even better, wonderful that you can all share those opinions so openly, without anyone judging anyone or getting pissed.
But the question remains: What about Batwoman? Is she hot or what?

  72. K2 said,

Weasel, you’ve got lesbian discrimination licked.

    Got groove?

  73. AO said,

Licked…ha. Sorry, I’ve had one HELL of a day!

  74. "The Weasel" said,

    Q. How does a lesbian hold her liquor?
    A. By her ears!

  75. K2 said,

Oh, Bulldog, I missed your post. Welcome back, you sprightly minx.

  76. K2 said,

How is a lesbian house built?

    Tongue and groove.

    A gay house?

    All studs.

  77. Linda said,

Me too AO, bad day. I started with nightmares before I woke up and went down from there. It’s not great when you make staff reliant on a computer system and three weeks later have to plan down time.

    But that’s all over now.

  78. "The Weasel" said,

How come Herb “The Perv” has not chimed in? Oh yea, he only likes underage girls.

  79. AO said,

Weasel, how’s your monkey meat hanging?

Linda, I’ve got to say that I think I’ve had one of the worse days ……for as long as I can remember. And, if that dosen’t make any sense to you then, there you go.

  80. Linda said,

Well it does make sense to me. Ditto.

  81. AO said,

Well, good. Glad I’ve made sense to somebody today! Ha. I totally “ripped” a new one for one of my biggest pain in the ass, customers today. Thats how bad my day has been going.

  82. K2 said,

‘America the Beautiful’ was written by Katharine Lee Bates — poet, scholar and lesbian.

  83. AO said,

Thank you for that, K2. Now, not to sound like a stupid blonde but, I’m wondering if that’s where Kathy Bates got her name? Something to think about?

  84. LaFlamme said,

    *snicker* stupid blonde.

  85. K2 said,

    What’s a blonde and a 747 have in common?

They both have a black box.

  86. Linda said,

OK, I’ve taken the necessary steps to put myself in a much better mood. Now I want to find out what’s happening around here. More jokes?

  87. Linda said,

MT, are you there at all or is that puppy taking all your time still? Teach her to type and buy her a computer, you can blog together. Love to hear from HER how she’s doing.

  88. LaFlamme said,

Uh oh. Now you’ve done it, Linda. Milo is a boy.

  89. Linda said,

Oh that’s right. I’m a little bit drunk and mixed Milo up with Elise. A thoushand apologies MT

  90. Linda said,

God I just had a close call. Paged from work, but by good luck I don’t have to drive in; not right now at least. *brewing coffee quickly just in case*

  91. Mainetarr said,

Mediums: They See Dead People is on right now on the Biography channel. Good stuff.

  92. Mainetarr said,

Ok, back on topic. I still stick to my original post, I don’t care if a person is gay, straight, bi, tri, whatever. What matters to me is personality, morality, values, sense of humor. If God calls homosexuality an abomination, well, then, He will judge them, not me. For my time on earth, I will do my best, hang onto my beliefs and values and let it ride. I just don’t appreciate having “gayness” forced on me as “normal”. I don’t want to learn all about being gay, I don’t give a shit. If I want to know, I will ask one of my gay friends or I will go buy a book. I don’t want to learn about Islam or how to speak Chinese either, so why should I be forced to? Let everyone do their thing, just don’t shove it in my face (no pun intended). Now let’s all get a bong.

  93. K2 said,

Oh, I’m way ahead of you, MT. *squinting with dry, red eyes*

  94. jarheaddoc said,

Fuck it, I’m going to bed. My brain hurts from too much thinking today. Humidity has stuck together parts of that and that would be TMI. “Breathe deep”

  95. Omnius said,

Affirmative Action in comics and forced, dry diversity. Great.

Here’s my take on it: http://pwnblog.com/?p=39

  96. AO said,

Oohh, there’s one we haven’t heard yet…”Lipstick Lesbian”. Okay, I’m taking a poll, how many of us woman bloggers actually wear…Lipstick? And, if you happen to be a Lesbian, well, more power to you. But, LIPSTICK?? Nah…

  97. Gil said,

What do you get when you turn a blonde upside down?
    A brunette with bad breath.

  98. Gil said,

Jesus, lighten up people. I think that the media types have gone overboard on the homosexuals also. I don’t believe that EVERY show should have someone gay in it. I also don’t agree with the gay rights bill being forced “down our throats” (stop giggling K2). But the reason I am pissed about it is the way it was done. The people of this state voted on this twice, and twice it was turned down. So the politico’s decided to pass it anyway. That was plain wrong. But the idiots in this state will vote the same asshats back into office.
Personally I could care less who you screw as long as they are of legal age. The only thing I don’t like about a gay rights bill is that no one can answer the simple question of what rights were they being denied?

  99. Linda said,

So AO, am I understanding you … it’s good to be a lesbian but not good to wear lipstick? I guess mascara would be out too?

And Gil … so … you’re back, eh?

  100. K2 said,

jd, sounds like somebody sat in some gum.

Good one, Gil. Now goodnight, you Screaming Room transient.

  101. Linda said,

BTW K2, I guess it took a guy to figure out what jd meant, at least I couldn’t quite get the picture but now I do.

  102. K2 said,

Oh, and Gil, if I were gay, you’d be at least my third choice. No, fourth. Top five, at least. I think. I’ll get back to you. It’s just that Elton John’s stubby fingers must give a hell of a hand job.

  103. LaFlamme said,

Yeah, but that son of a bitch has no stamina. He’s a Rocket Man.

  104. K2 said,

Yeah, ‘I sat in some gum’ is a classic guy line. Hot, sticky and distended scrotums are a pain, no doubt about it.

  105. K2 said,

Now that sort of gay bashing I won’t stand for. You bash Elton, you bash me, mister.

I hear Tchaikovsky sucked a mean cock back in the day. And Capote could take two dicks, easy.

  106. Linda said,

I’m learning so many useful things here at the Lost Sole. Thanks K2, really. Well maybe not all that useful but what the hell, you never know.

  107. Gil said,

Yeah, I’m back. I work all over Ma, NH, and Me, so I’m gone quite a bit at times
What do you mean top five K2? If I were gay I’d be insulted. I joined the military when it was illegal, while I was in they made it optional, and I got out before thay made it mandatory.
Like K2, I also sucked a dick once. But in all fairness, I needed a ride.
    Just kidding.
    I didn’t need the ride

  108. Linda said,

Gil I was never in the military but I went to a summer camp like that once.

  109. Gil said,

Summer camp wher you had to give head for rides? What kind of camp was that?

  110. Linda said,

Ah, it was a long time ago. Kids were dumber then.

  111. Gil said,

Now this is my idea of superhero sex
    Safe for Linda

  112. Linda said,

. Thanks a lot for the rating, Gil, but I read anything I want at home, you know?

  113. Linda said,

I hope they have good air conditioning.

  114. LaFlamme said,

Oh, fine. Now that I’m out of work and free to play, you people are gone. I was going to ask: if you had to (or were allowed to) have sex with a Will & Grace character, who would it be?

  115. Martha said,

Since I was asked a question I’ll answer it. If it were my child, my stance would not change. Doesn’t mean I’d put them out of my home, or love them less, but I would not condone the behavior, nor would I allow it in my home. It is still wrong. God is still in the business of forgiving sin when it is repented of.. no repentance, no forgiveness.
That’s the real issue.. Homosexuals want their behavior condoned. That is the difference between them and a person born deaf, blind or downs.

  116. Bulldog said,

hands down Mark- I’d have sex with Karen. She’s a wild one!

  117. Robert said,

Anyone else wonder how much the militant gay community paid the writers/creators to make a gay character? I’m thinking either the creators are gay or they got paid a lot of money to help make this mainstream….with so many of us mature adults readinf cartoons perhaps thiswas just a way of increasing subscriptions for the voyeurs to see what it would reflect? Makes you wonder but this is probably all about money and politics, nothing more.

  118. LaFlamme said,

Well, even the creators of Will & Grace were willing to put out the idea that there’s a gay mafia running around out there. The mind reels.

  119. Perfect Ownage said,

[…] His blog is pleasant enough to read, with clear writing and the kind of random topics that make it easy to stay interested in what he has to say. Sometimes, we even wind up writing about the same things, such as his essay A Gay Old Time and my BatLesbian entry. […]

  120. Linda said,

“Pleasant enough to read”? talk about damning with faint praise.

And are there really ten of us? I remember some time back I guessed five, but now that I know some of you better, so to speak, I guess maybe ten’s a reasonable guess.

  121. Omnius said,

“talk about damning with faint praise.” I meant it as a compliment, and I think you’re smart enough to know that.

As for there being ten of you, I think I counted just past five people posting here, and assumed for caution’s sake to be a bit conservative and pad the number a bit.

  122. Linda said,

Yes I could see that you meant it approvingly, and you are smart enough to know that “damning with faint praise” means complimenting something but not going quite far enough.

“Pleasant” sounds like — let’s pour a cup of tea and straighten the doilies, then log in and read that pleasant Mark LaFlamme’s blog. It’s not one of the first ten words that come to my mind — though it’s certainly not false.

  123. Linda said,

Actually Omnius, I apologize, it doesn’t really mean that does it? I was busy being a wiseass and not really concentrating very well on what I was saying. That happens to me sometimes. Nice to meet you and all that.

  124. Linda said,

And I’m sorry about the argy-bargy.

  125. jose said,

If you ask me I’m tired of seeing heteros kiss and hug and have make believe sex on tv.

  126. Leslie said,

Then do it in real life!

  127. Blackwingbear said,

Ahh, get over it ya immature heteros..
